The Omniscient Sai Prof Anil Kumar Kamaraju his Experience
I will tell you personal incident. I came from the hot state of Andhara Pradesh. As Bangalore is very cold, I soon developed sinus problem. I took a water heater and went for my bath.
I was about to take my bath, when there was sudden power cut. The power went off and the water was not ready for my bath. So I causally washed my face and went for darshan.
I sat in the darshan, Slowly, came the gentlle figure, the short with broad smile, holdin his robe with one, and weaving the hand in circles with the other. He stood in front of me looked into the empty space and waved both hands, saying, “There are some who come for darshan without having bath.
I, WAS WONDER STRUCK. I WAS TAKEN BACK, AND SAID,”How so you know?” He replied, “Where am I? I am in your bed room and I AM in your bath room. I am everywhere ” Then I, ran to my room and took a double bath. I returned and sat on the verandah. Baba came suddenly after bhajans. He came straight to me and said, “A normal bath is enough, don’t worry. The omnipotence and omnipresence are qualities of divinity to let us know that the Avatar is not less than the divine personaliy.
Once Bhagavan said to an old man, “Today is the death anniversary of your wife.” Bhagavan even told him more details. He may have met so many people in between. Yet He remebers everything and everyone. Omnipotence,Omnipresence and omniscience. The person may have forgotten but not Bhagavan.
Once there was a couple who came to Him. The couple had been having heated argument back at home. Bhagavan called the wife, and naturally the husband follwed obediently. Both of them were given an interview. Then Swami came out of the interview room and said, “You fight at home, so fight here also, I will give you time. “So, here you can experience directly the omnipresence, omnipotence and omniscience.
Once in KodaiKanal I was with all the seve dal in the garden. They were giving ice creams, so I also received one. Swami came to the mandir and I stretched out my hand. Swami said, “You have taken icecream already outside.” I said, Swami, I did not say I have not eaten.” “Then Swami said why do you stretch your hand here? . “there, the seva dal give you icecream .Then I said , But Swami I want from your divine hands, therefore I am asking. Then He gave me one with His divine Hands. He then asked me “Is it nice? OK, take two.” So this kind of omnipresence will make you happy and it will be benefical to you.

Amazing Cure
Prof Kasturi and his story of Gowri a bright student
Amazing cure (An article shared by Ram Chugani)
Prof Kasturi describes this letter: A shrill note piercing through the bathroom shattered the absolute calm.
Vasantha her mother was terrified, and ran from the living room. She knocked loudly the closed door of the bathroom. Gowri had bolted the door from inside and she screamed from a sever back pain which had immobilized her.
Slowly she managed to open the bolt. Vedanta rushed in and helped her move to the bedroom. Gowrie was in agony. She lay in bed. The family physician was called. He came and after examining her pronounced it to be a muscular seizure.
Injections and medicines were given. Gowrie went off to a drowsy sleep, not aware of her pain. "That is what doctor do, so also God's grace, making you not aware of pain.
Swami says, you have to suffer Karmic pain because you have asked for it, but God's grace makes you not aware of it. That is blessings Swami may grant.
"This was on 21st December 1982. From her childhood Gowrie was an active girl. Apart from being a bright student, she participated in various cultural activities. She was an enthusiastic member of the debating society, the drama association, the dance troupe and literary circle.
She had enrolled as a student of bharatanatyam, a south Indian style of dance under a well-known guru of Tanjore tradition, at young age of seven years. For ten long years she practiced bharatanatyam and she was qualified for the first stage Performa dance before the public in 1979.Later she danced in prestigious halls like Shanmukhananda Hall.
As well as many famous Halls in Bombay. She was a member of a group of Bharatnatyam dancers who gave performance in ASAID auditorium. She was a celebrated dancer.
She was practicing hard to perform a dance ballad scheduled for 23rd December 1982 when the tragedy struck her. Leading physicians, surgeons and experts examined her. Close X-rays and repeated medical tests showed no clinical evidence of any injury or illness. By mid January 1983she suffered severe cramps at the lower back which left her in agony and exhaustion.
A leading orthopedist examined her and suspected a serious problem in her nervous system and started treatment It gave Gauri some relief, but she continued to suffer from pain in the lower back. She was absolutely unable to sit. She had a stoop and could not straighten herself. She had to be helped to lie on bed. She violently shivered.
Months passed in agony for gowri and all of us. As astrologers and tantrics were consulted. Some of them said, she might have become a victim of evil eye! Poojas were performed. The orthopedist continued his treatment. By May 1983 Gowrie improved. She could sit for a while and stand up promptly. She maintained steady progress after October 1983. But progress seemed to be elusive.
She started suffering bouts of several times a day, and late evenings were spent in restlessness. By November her conditions deteriorated. She complained of sever pain in her neck and shoulder. Days and weeks were spent in sheer agony.
It was already December 1983 and a year of agony was nearing completion. At this time, a schoolmate of Gowrie casually dropped to enquire about Gowrie health. She was shocked and distressed to see her condition. She decided to something about it. She went back home and told her mother about Gowrie's illness.
Gowrie's friend and her mother were staunch devotees of Sri Sathya sai Baba. They spent lot of time in the service of the poor, and the old and the sick. They decided they would pray to Baba to help Gowrie into Gowrie's house. Gowrie and her mother were happy to receive them.
They were sad to see Gowrie's condition. They talked sweetly to her, consoled her and advised to pray to God and quietly took a packet of vibhuti and gave it to Gowri, and asked her to apply to that part where it pained her, and told her to mix it in the water and drink when the pain became unbearable. They said it was the vibhuthi from Sathya Sai Baba. We felt there was no harm in using it. After all we had tried all methods of cure and now why not this? But, Gowrie's friend and her mother added, you should have full faith in Baba. How could it be? We had just heard about Him! They repeated their assurance that the vibhuthi was a powerful cure. They had a video cassette with them to be screened somewhere. We asked whether we could view it. They handed over the cassette and once again reminded us to pray to Baba and take the vibhuthi." 'Shrotavya' is to hear about God. "Drushtavya" is to see God. Seeing video was Drushtavya,' seeing Swami's form.
We had all kinds of doubts. 'How can we have faith in him? Who is Sathya Sai Baba? How does He look like? What about his vibhuthi. All kinds of doubts. The entire family crowded around and viewed the cassette. We were spell bound at what we saw. We were charmed at the red robed apparition.
Baba looks so beautiful! The crowd seems to adore Him! He looks so compassionate and kind! All of sudden He waved His right hand and created vibhuthi! He gave it to all devotees who were sitting. Baba making vibhuthi flow from an inverted vessel on to an idol of Shard Baba was unbelievable!
His message of Sathya, Dharma, shanty and preamp, and there is only one religion, the religion of love, there is only one God, He is omnipresent stimulated unification of humanity! We were thrilled to hear it. We were moved at the splendor of Baba!
We regretted ourselves we did not see Him earlier! But never mind, it is never too late. We saw Him again and again. The more we saw the more we loved Him. It was an experience, when the two devotees came next day, they had brought a couple of books on the life and teachings of Baba. That is "Mantravya" knowing about Him.
We used vibhuthi as directed. True, the pain seemed to reduce and disappear when vibhuthi was mixed in the water and taken. It made her a little bright and cheerful. What was happening? A dream or imagination? A sort of make believe?
We wanted to see further development. Subsequently vibhuthi was smeared at the spot where it pained most, and gave her generously water mixed with vibhuthi to drink, which stopped her pain, particularly in the left arm which had gone numb! We were delighted, but kept our peace for fear of some evil eye robbing her of this newfound remedy!
When the stock of vibhuthi declined we felt concerned. But many devotees who vested us filled up the container. In fact they themselves were surprised, and they could hardly conceive the happening and the wonder that vibhuthi had done.
They all decided to take Gowrie for Baba,s darshans. On the 13tth February 1984 , they all had Swami's darshans. Kasturi report that there was a messenger from Baba calling them for interview.
Lady members awaiting the interview stood near the sidewall. Soon Baba came out, He waived us. It was simple direct gesture, we were right in His presence. All of sudden He turned to Gowrie who was sitting on chair as she could not bend to sit on the floor.
"What had the doctors to say? He asked. She replied the doctors found nothing wrong and father gave additional report that she was Bharatantyam dancer.
"I cure her right now, she should be quite normal" Baba said. We were astounded, speechless, Baba was telling "Right now!" It was turning moment Baba got up and went near her. Gowrie was already on her feet, and though she could not bend, she went down on her knee and did namskar.
What better proof we wanted other than what we were witnessing! It was happening after fourteen months. Medical experts had cautioned her not to attempt at such thing. But here she was right at his feet doing namaskar. She tried hard fighting back tears flooding out of her.
Other members could hardly conceal their joy and emotion. We followed Gowrie and we were right at Baba's feet, His grace, His love and compassion pouring on all of us in abundance. Perhaps He accepted our devotion when He permitted us to hold His feet for such a long time.
Baba broke the silence, and assured that Gowrie would be all right, and when she visited next time, she would be a great dancer! He distributed vibhuthi to all of us in generous measure. It sighted the end of the interview..
It was time for morning Bhajans and we joined devotees in singing. After we came out to find the whole world new. He has given you a new eye, a new vision. Gowrie discarded the chair and pillows kept for her. In the Bhajan hall she sat on the floor. Some members who had seen her agony broke into spectators joy at her transformation.
The news had spread all around, and loving volunteers too were filled with joy.
"The miracle is one poster to announce that the AVATHAR has come."

How is believing in miracles helpful in one's spiritual growth?
A. by Anjali Gadiraju
I have not written anything before but I hope everybody accepts my answer. When any child cries and asks for something for example, food or toys, mother of the child runs to get what her child needs, and to get that sometimes she has to bear some pain. However, this makes the child to love mother without question, have trust and patience that mother is there and going to solve his problem. It is the same way Saibaba worries for all his devotees and fulfills all wishes to give maximum happiness and show us the right path. And he teaches the same to us that we should have Shradha and Saburi for the guru as the child has for his mother. Sai baba is mother to all his devotees. He shows us right path by making us fall on our wrong path, the same way any mother will scold her child for doing anything wrong. And the miracles, which we feel as miracles, they are actually mother taking care of his child. However, as we are human we call them miracles, so guru by showing those miracles increases our faith and unquestionable love in guru as we have on our mother. I find miracles everyday in every small incident; I just say Sai's name and things are there for me. For example asking the train to reach on time to my work place, getting a desired seat in library to sit and study, praying my food should taste good, my husband should not scold me for some wrong I did. Baba is there with us always and will always be there until we have trust and patience.

The Maha Yagna at Whitefield
Sri Mookambika Devi Satha Chandi Maha Yagna
16.05.2005: -------------- Today there was Dhanvantari Homam. The Homam took place on the stage on the ladies' side. Bhagawan came at 7:15AM. HE stayed till 8:45AM and left. HE came again at 09:30AM and stayed till Poornahuti.
17.05.'05: -------------- There were three homams this morning - Rudra Homam, Chandi Homam and Mrutyunjaya Homam. Swamy came at 07:25AM and stayed till 09:30AM watching the proceedings. In the evening there was Sudarsana Homam. It started at 05:00 PM. Swamy was there till 06:00PM and then left for Trayee. poornahuti took place at 09:00PM.
18.05.'05 -------------- Today was the last day of the three day programme of various Homams. Yesterday, in the evening, when Swamy went back into Trayee, the Maha Sata Chandi Homam was announced as the grand finale. No one had any idea of the grandeur till it commenced this morning. Swami came at 7:15AM and immediately the Pundits commenced the Homam after receiving a green signal from HIM. The Homa Kundam was majestic. Shaped like a heart, it was six feet deep and a foot above the ground. It was dug in the Ramesh hall, about 10 feet away from the stage in the front. Three steps of the Homa Kundam were adorned with beautiful rangoli and flower petals, mainly marigold. Owing to the size the Homa Kundam, the fire had to be lit last night itself, and it was done in the most auspicious manner, i.e. by rubbing pieces of wood and the initial sparks litting up a cocnut fibre. This is multiplied and slowly small wood pieces are introduced. By morning, the sacrificial fire was big enough to consume logs!
Once the Homam started two large logs were put into the Homa kundam and soon large flames leapt up. The Homam started with incantations to propitiate the nava grahas , followed by Indra, Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu and their respective families. The offerings into the sacrificial fire were of great variety. Seven to eight containers, each of 35 litres, of sweet pongal was offered to the Devi. Other offerings were, coconuts, mangoes, flowers, bananas and even water melons! Every member seated there participated in one part of the Homam. Sai Gayathri was being chanted followed by 'Swaaha' and then ghee was offered into the sacrificial fire.
While this went on, Swamy went back to Trayee at 8:45AM and came back at 09:25AM. Swamy looked like the all-pervading Sri Mahavishnu HIMSELF! HIS black hair was dancing to the breeze and from a distance it looked like Adisesha was providing shade to HIM!! HE observed the proceedings with rapt attention.
The CM of Karnataka, Sri. Dharam Singh visited Brindavan at about 9:45AM. Swamy blessed a green colored saree along with freshly picked green paddy plant and fruits. These were offered to the Devi through the fire. Again, fistfuls of Sweet pongal were offered again by the eleven priests of the Kolluru Mookambika Devasthanam sitting around the Homa kundam. At about 10:15AM, a red saree wetted with ghee, along with money, fruits and flowers were blessed by Swamy and offered in to the sacrificial fire. Poornahuti commenced after this at 10:25AM with chants of Durga suktam, Sri suktam, Chamakam and Sai Gayathri.
After the Homam, Swamy directed Sri. C. Srinivas to give thre presents, dhoti and angavastram to the priests. The six main priests thus honoured looked very happy and satisfied. The Homam ended on a high note, spreading great spiritual vibrations in the Ramesh hall, and perhaps even farther.
Mrs. Praveen Sultana was surprised at the sudden order by Swamy to sing! She rendered a couple of Bhajans, Bhavai Dayani and SaiRam SaiRam. Her husband was also called and asked to sing. The fortunate couple presented a treat of Hindustani music. Swamy meanwhile got up and walked slowly towards the elevator on the gents side and came down. The mobile throne was brought out of the car (!) and Swamy sat on that. The throne was placed in the Toyota Porte and Swamy left for Trayee through the ladies' side at 11:15AM filling us with absolute bliss.

Sairam
In Brindavan around 60 priests from Karnataka are performing Homam from last three days.
On Monday Dhanvantari Homam and Sudarshan Homam were performed. The Yagna Kundas were kept one at the Ladies side of the dias and the other at the gents side Dias. To the devotees surprise Swami came to darshan by 7:15 an unexpected time when compared to the previous days where he was coming around 9:30.
Our Beloved Lord came for darshan in his Wheel chair. He came from the main gate of trayee Brindavan and entered Ladies side and went to the dias and sat before the Dhanvantari Homam for about 40 min and then went to Sudershana Homam Kundam on the Gents side and sat there for about 30 min and let the Hall. He himself came later and performed Poornaahuthi. It was really astonishing to the devotees to see Swami performing the rituals with his one hand and priests helping Him out, to perform the rituals. In the afternoon also he came early and sat for the afternoon section of the Yagna. Swami had blessed all the priests with Pattu dhothis personally.
On Tuesday also Vedic chanting was started at 5:30 a.m by the boys. Lalitha Sahasranama was started by the Ladies at 6:30 in the Sai Ramesh Hall. Today we had the great chandi Maha Yagnam to be started. The Kundam was digged before the Ganesha in the Sai Ramesh Hall which was measuring 9*5 feet. The priest started with the Maha Ganapathy Homam and our beloved Lord came early as yesteday by 7:00a.m. He sat for the Homam some times chanting with the priests and looking above and as a small kid not able to move around sat before the Yagna as Yagna Purusha and went back at around 8:30a.m.
Today being the PoornaAhuthi for the chandi Yagnam. Swami came as usual as last days at 7:00a.m from the Ladies side taling to the devotees and went up. Later he called sathyagit and saked him to make him stand. Swami stood up and started walking with the help of Sathyagit on the right side holding the factured hand and Jain holding the left hand. Swami went off at 8:30 a.m and came back again at 10:00am to do the Poorna Ahuthi. Swami walked down and greeted the CM of Karnataka Dharam Singh with his left hand and blessed all the people. Today yagna was attended by the Govenor, Ministers and many dignitaries of Karantaka. It seems to be a festival in Brindavan. Devotees were stunned to see Swami sitting for Yagnas so much of time where the local news papers published that they would be no darshan for a week because of the facture. Swami proved his uncertainity and came for the darshan both the times from the day the news was published.
But seeing him in this stage makes every one feel very sorrow. But , What can we do other that to pray Him to get well soon.

| The significance of Shri Sai Satcharitra is: |
| 05.20.05 (11:47 am) [edit] |
|
The significance of Shri Sai Satcharitra is:
- This is the first and foremost book based on the life-story of Shri Sai Baba, which was originally composed in Marathi verse form. The writing of the book started in the lifetime of Baba with His blessings.
- This has been translated into many Indian languages and English language, which can be understood even by a common man.
- The Divine Truth imparted by this book is even greater than the knowledge contained in the Vedas and Gita, because all the characters and events in it are real and authentic and have been recorded in detail by many devotees.
- The spiritual essence contained in all the religious scriptures like Vedas, Gita and Yoga Vashisht is found in the life-story of Shri Sainath.
- The concepts of God and spirituality are explained in such a simple yet comprehensive manner in Shri Sai Satcharitra, that no additional book or commentary is required to understand it. It has a natural flow whereby the readers start feeling as if they had been closely associated with its events in their past lives.
- The glory of Shri Sai is spreading in the world, far and wide, in such a way that detailed information about Shri Sai Baba is available through many web sites on Internet and through Shri Sai Satcharitra.
- The foremost duty of Sai devotees is therefore to read Shri Sai Satcharitra and absorb it into their beings completely. The more they read this book, the more it will bring them closer to Baba and all their doubts and apprehensions will be cleared. It also has been experienced that during a crisis, if any devotee searching for an answer, if he randomly opens Shri Sai Satcharitra, praying to Baba sincerely and with faith, his answer can be found in that open page. Many people have got their desired benefits after reading Shri Sai Satcharitra for a week in paraayana form.

| The Need for Sanathana Vidya |
| 05.20.05 (11:29 am) [edit] |
The Need for Sanathana Vidya
Have not men trained themselves in countless arts and skills and sciences? Have they not devised countless machines? Have they not accumulated vast tons of knowledge? Nevertheless, man has not attained peace of mind, which is so essential for happiness. Instead, with every passing day, this vidya is dragging man into deeper and deeper waters and peace is receding more and more into the distance.
The reason can be stated thus. These arts and sciences have only transitory value; these machines cater for worldly comfort; this knowledge is all about temporary, transitory things. This vidya does not reveal to one the Innermost Secret of the Universe. There is one secret which if known lays bare all secrets; if that problem is solved, all are solved, there is one knot which if untied, all knots are loosened. There is one science, which if mastered, all are mastered. That key science is Santhana Vidya.
If a tree has to be destroyed, its taproot has to be cut; there is no use trying to kill it by plucking its leaves one by one. It takes too long a time, besides, it may not work. The ancient Vedic seers knew this Vidya, but, Indians are feeling ashamed to claim them as their kith and kin. They saw God through their ascetic endeavours and won His Grace. They expounded the Science which they had so boldly discovered. Seekers from other countries perused these books and said that India had blazed a trail for the whole world. This is a well-known fact. The lamp illumines the house but just at the very foot of the lamp, there lurks a dark circle. India does not know or care for that treasure. Can we ascribe this to the play of Fate and keep quiet?
In the past ages Indians performed their daily rites, sat in a purified place, surrounded by sacredness and immersed themselves in the study and the practice of the teachings of the Vedas and the Upanishads. Besides, they recorded their experiences in order to guide others and in order to bring those experiences back again into their own consciousness. But, their children and grandchildren placed those books on the altar and duly worshipped them. Neglect has reduced them to dust or lumber; the palm leaves have disintegrated and rats have eaten into them. But, eager students from the West have sought out this lumbers and realising that it enshrines incomparable sources of illumination and priceless pearls of Wisdom, they lift it reverentially above their heads and acclaim it as the precious gift of Bharathakhanda to themselves and their children. They carry it across the seas, with joy in their eyes and thankfulness in their hearts.

Ashram Programme
Spirituality in Ashram is a way of life. The Ashram wakes up to a new life everyday at Brahmamuhurtham (early hours of the morning) which is most auspicious for spiritual sadhana. The aspirants chant the Pranava, the primordial sound, which creates powerful vibrations. This is followed by Suprabatham (verses in praise of the Lord) which seeks to awaken the divinity within. The Nagarsankirtan (going round singing Bhajans) performed by men as well as women purifies the atmosphere with divine vibrations.
The most coveted hour in the daily routine of Prasanthi Nilayam is Darshan. In the hour of Darshan, Bhagawan goes around the devotees who are seated in the Sai Kulwant Hall, accepting their letters, listening to their prayers, clarifying their doubts, solving their problems, healing their diseases (physical and mental) and uplifting them. Regarding Darshan, Bhagawan Himself said, " My Darshan is My Gift to Mankind". Bhagawan chooses some people for interview and the moments spent with Bhagawan in the interview room are the most precious moments in the life of spiritual aspirants. In these interviews, many a sadhaka is baptized and is brought to his pristine purity, for he is washed in the divine waters of love that flow from the fountain of Prema that Bhagawan is. The most mysterious, mystifying and elevating things happen in the interview room. Bhagawan fulfils the innermost wishes of devotees, material and spiritual. The interview is, in fact, an " inner view". for many spiritual aspirants.
The interviews are followed by Bhajans in the Mandir. Bhajans in Prasanthi Nilayam are unique since they are of universal scope and appeal. The Bhajans extol deities of different religions and uphold the unity of faiths. The Hindus and Muslims, The Jews and the Christians, The Buddhist and the Jains, The Parsis and The Sikhs find themselves equally at home while singing the Bhajans in Prasanthi Nilayam. It is a unique experience to sit in the Bhajan Hall and have the vision of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba seated on a throne absorbing the prayers of His devotees.
Bhagawan blesses His devotees again in the evening with Darshan followed by Bhajans. Bhagawan is busy throughout the day and is ever in action so that mankind may emulate His example.

Sri Sathya Sai Baba - June 25th 1963 Discourse
OM SAI RAM
On June 25th'1963 in Venkatagiri, Bhagawan while going up some stairs in the Palace of the Raja of Venkatagiri slipped , His right leg was Fractured, Bhagawan was carried up in a chair and lifted to his Room upstairs. Came Evening and at 5'O'Clock, there was no sign of Bhagawan giving Darshan, after around 10 minutes, the wonderful sound of the siren was played which always preceeded the arrival of Bhagawan for Darshan, Bhagawan was walking as if Nothing had happened, Everybody was too stunned to speak anything, Bhagawan gave one of his sheepish smiles and gave a wonderful 10 minute discourse, He said :
PRIYATMULARA (DEAR ONES OF THE HEART),
NOTHING HAPPENS TO SWAMI, NOTHING CAN TOUCH YOUR SWAMI, SWAMI IS ALL RIGHT ALL THE TIME, IT IS ONLY YOUR BRAMA (ILLUSION) THAT I WAS HURT AND NOT WELL.
FOR SWAMI THIS PHYSICAL BODY IS ONLY A MEANS TO TEACH YOU GOOD THINGS. YOU HAVE PRAYED WHOLE HEARTEDLY THAT I SHOULD COME AND GIVE YOU DARSHAN, SEE HERE IAM, YOUR PRAYERS HAVE MADE ME TO COME, THERE WAS NEVER AN INJURY TO SWAMI, SWAMI NEVER GET INJURED, AS ALL ARE MY CREATIONS CAN MY OWN CREATIONS HARM ME ?,
SWAMI ACTS IN MANY WAYS TO TEACH YOU LESSONS OF LOVE. SWAMI NEVER FEELS PAIN, WHY SHOULD SWAMI FEEL PAIN?, IAM THE CAUSE FOR EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD,EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN THIS WORLD IS BECAUSE OF ME. GOD BEHAVES HUMANLY TO HELP PEOPLE AROUND HIM TO LEARN LESSONS AND EVEN PEOPLE WHO ARE EVIL AND WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD BECOME HIS ARDENT DEVOTEES.
IN THE RAMAYANA , MARICHA WAS A CLOSE FRIEND OF RAVANA, HE WAS THE MOST EVIL MAN AFTER RAVANA, BUT ULTIMATELY HE ADVISED RAVANA NOT TO EVEN TOUCH OR LOOK AT SITA, ALL OF YOU WILL NOT KNOW THAT IT WAS MARICHA WHO TOLD THE GREAT WORDS "RAMO VIGRAHA VAN DHARMAHA", HE TOLD RAVANA WHO HAD COME TO HIM FOR ASSISTANCE TO KIDNAP SITA THAT " RAMA IS DIVINE, GOD HIMSELF", HE TOLD RAVANA THAT WHEN HE HAD GONE TO DISRUPT THE YAGNA OF THE RISHIS IN THE FOREST, RAMA SHOT AN ARROW AT HIM AND IT HAD CHASED HIM WHEREVER IT WENT.IT WOULD NOT LEAVE HIM, IT CHASED HIM EVERWHERE, IT WAS ONLY WHEN HE JUMPED INTO THE SEA THAT RAMA CALLED BACK HIS ARROW DUE TO REVERENCE TO THE GOD OF THE SEAS, HOW DID THE EVIL INCARNATE MARICHA BECOME LORD RAMA'S GREAT DEVOTEES AND ENDED HIS LIFE AT RAMA'S DIVINE HANDS, IT WAS BECAUSE HE UNDERSTOOD THE LOVE OF THE LORD, THE DIVINITY OF THE LORD.
IN THE MAHABARATA ALSO, DURING BHEESHMA PARVA AFTER THE BATTLE HAD ENDED FOR THE DAY, DURYODHANA APPROACHED BHEESHMACHARYA AND ASKED HIM "OH, GREAT GRANDFATHER, IN SPITE OF YOUR GREAT POWER AND YOUR SKILLS IN THE BATTLEFIELD, NOT EVEN A SINGLE MAJOR WARRIOR IN THE WHOLE PANDAVA ARMY HAS DIED, BUT MANY OF OUR GREAT WARRIORS HAVE DIED A SORRY DEATH, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO US, INSPITE OF US HAVING GREAT WARRIORS LIKE YOURSELF, DRONACHARYA, KARNA AND SHALYA, WHY ARE WE FAILING IN THE WAR", TO WHICH BHEESHMACHARYA REPLIED "MY DEAR SON, IT WILL NOT TAKE ME A MINUTE TO LINE UP ALL THE FIVE PANDAVAS AND ALL THEIR OTHER GREAT WARRIORS AND KILL THEM, FOR THAT TO HAPPEN YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE AWAY ONE PERSON FROM THE BATTLEFIELD, AS LONG AS HE IS IN THE WAR ZONE, I CANNOT TOUCH THEM, ALL MY WEAPONS, MY KNOWLEDGE ARE NOTHING BEFORE HIM, HE IS KRISHNA, TAKE HIM AWAY AND YOU WILL WIN THE WAR ", DURYODHANA HUNG HIS HEAD AND RECOLLECTED HOW HE WAS THE HAPPIEST MAN WHEN ARJUNA HAD CHOSEN ONLY KRISHNA AND NOTHING ELSE AND HE WAS VERY HAPPY THAT HE HAD TAKEN A HUGE PORTION OF THE ARMY OF KRISHNA. THIS IS THE GREATNESS OF THE LORD, ALL HIS ACTIONS HAVE MEANING, NOT ONE OF HIS ACTIONS ARE MEANT TO WASTED.
HOW TRUE ARE THESE WORDS OF BHAGAWAN, HOW RELEVANT ARE THEY TODAY FOR ALL OF US.

| Baba Saved His Child |

Baba Saved His Child
In Mahim, Mumbai there was a large poor family of six. The head of the family was a clerk. Once he committed a serious blunder in the accounts, and feared dismissal. One of his friends, a devotee of Sai Baba, heard of his anxiety and gave him udhi and asked him to use it twice everyday and assured him that his difficulties would cease in a month or two. Shortly after, his mistake in accounts was discovered. He could not face the situation. So he went on leave for a month and came home. He was frightened by the prospect of dismissal and decided to commit suicide to end his sufferings. One day he kissed his child, wore an old shirt and went out. His wife knew of his distracted state of mind and knew that it was of no use preventing him from going out. So she called him back, gave him Sai Baba’s udhi and let him go. Then she sat before Baba’s picture and went on praying fervently to him to save her husband’s life.
Her husband who had left the house in the morning did not turn up even in the evening. He went to Borivelle in Mumbai and jumped into a secluded tank. A fisherman rescued him and threatened him to hand him over to police if he did not return home. He gave a little money and left him at his house at 11 p.m. The next minute the fisherman disappeared! Baba is the fisher of men’s souls too!
Manikshah never ate anything without first offering it to Baba. Yet he could not visit Shirdi for a long time. Once on his way to Nagpur he was sleeping in his reserved compartment. At about 1.30 p.m. he woke up at Manmad. A vague human form appeared and said, "Do not proceed further!" and vanished. He looked out but found none. He got down from the train. He had his next train for Nagpur only late in the evening. The pilgrims proceeding to Shirdi suggested that he could join them and he did. By evening he returned to Manmad and was shocked to learn that the earlier train, by which he came, later met with a major accident and that many were killed or wounded.
Baba had mercifully saved him from the danger and fulfilled his wish to visit Shirdi.

Purana Events are Real
Baba’s attitude to tradition can best be seen in his answers to the questions put on to him by Madhavrao alias Shama. Once Madhavrao asked Baba whether it was true that there were fifty crores of yadawas in Dwaraka as mentioned in the puranas. "Baba, Prof. Narke says that the account given by the puranas is false." But Baba replied "No, It is all true. Even Rama and Krishna did really exist."
On another occasion Shama asked Baba, "Baba, is it true that one crore of vanara army assembled at the time of Rama’s war against the demon king Ravana? How could so many assemble in one place?"
Baba replied that it was true that so many of them had assembled and that he personally saw them gathering one above the other, as ants do.
Shama said, "How could you witness what happened to long ago? If you were there then how were you?"
Baba: Innumerable births went by for you and for me. You don’t know but I do. I was as I am now."
On yet another occasion Shama asked: "Are Vishnu and Brahma lokas real? If they are, you must show me those. For, they say that when compared with those worlds, this one of ours is trivial."
Baba: "Don’t worry about them; for when compared with God they are still more trivial. For those worlds are also of the same nature as our world (i.e., transient).
Shama: But you must enable me to realize the truth of what you say!
Then Baba asked him to close his eyes. Immediately on closing his eyes Shama could see those subtle other worlds. As he went on seeing them Baba proceeded to point out Brahma in the Brahmaloka and told him that it was Satyaloka. Next Baba showed him Vishnuloka and pointed out Vishnu seated therein, and Kailasa with Siva in it. Finally, Baba ended the vision and told Shama, "These realms of existence are not to be desired by us. What we want is different and still higher."

| Baba’s Holi Meal in Hemadpant’s House |
| 03.25.05 (12:40 am) [edit] |
Baba’s Holi Meal in Hemadpant’s House
On Holi festival in 1917, Baba appeared in the dream of Hemadpant at his house in Bandra and told him that he would be coming to his house to participate in the Holi meal. Hemadpant told his wife about the dream and asked her to prepare food for one more person. The festivities of Holi were over. Arrangements were made for serving the meal. They reserved a seat for Baba. All the members of the family sat down for the meal. After offerings were made to God, ghee was served; they were about to start eating, when someone knocked the door. Hemadpant opened the door and found two persons standing there. They handed over to him a photo of Shirdi Sai Baba with a request to keep it safely. They asked him to finish his meals first and then they could discuss the details about the photo later on; they left the place.
Hemadpant was surprised at the arrival of Baba in the form of photo, exactly at meal time. He shed tears of joy. He felt happy that what Baba had told him in the dream had come true in this manner. He immediately put the photo in the place set apart for Baba. All the food items were kept before the photo and only after offering them to Baba, did the others eat.
The same day at the same time Baba told Shama at Shirdi that he had a sumptuous meal at Bandra in Hemadpant’s house. Shama could understand Baba’s words only after sometime when Hemadpant went to Shirdi. Now let us see how the photo was delivered at Hemadpant’s house.
A long time back, a saint by name Abdul Rehman gave a lifesize framed photo of Baba to Ali Mohammed. After sometime, Ali’s brother-in-law fell sick. Someone said that if the photos of saints were put in the sea, the illness would subside. So he sent for this manager and asked him to collect all such photos in his house and also in the houses of relatives and put them in the sea. After some days Ali Mohammed came home and was surprised to find that Baba’s photo was still there in the wall. He began to think to whom it should be given. As per Baba’s order given to him through his thoughts, the photo was handed over to Hemadpant.

| Miraculous powers of Shirdi Sai Baba |
| 03.25.05 (12:34 am) [edit] |
|
Miraculous powers of Shirdi Sai Baba
Water jars are kept in mosques for people to wash their feet before entering the sacred precincts. In the dusk the villagers saw Baba take water from the jars and pour it into his lamps. Then he lit the lamps and they burned. They continued to burn, and the watchers realised that the fakir had turned the water into oil. In consternation they fell at his feet, and prayed that he would not put a curse on them for the way they had treated him.
This was the first miracle Sai Baba performed before the public, and it was the match that lit the fire which became a beacon drawing thousands of men to him from afar. Many became his devotees. He used his miraculous powers to cure their ailments, to help them in their day-to-day problems, to protect them from danger wherever they happened to be, and to draw them towards a spiritual way of life.
A great many found their sense of values changing. Some surrendered themselves entirely to the divine will which they saw in Baba, gave up their worldly lives, and came to live at Shirdi as close disciples. Sai Baba taught them according to their needs and capacities. Learned pundits who thought him illiterate found that he could discourse on spiritual philosophy and interpret the sacred writings of India more profoundly and clearly than anyone else they had ever known. But always he led his disciples along the Bhakti marga, the radiant pathway of divine love, self-surrender and devotion.
Loving care of his devotees was the ruling motif of all Baba's actions and many of them have stated that in his presence they always felt a spiritual exaltation. They forgot their pains, their cares and their anxieties. They felt completely safe and the hours passed unnoticed in blissful happiness.
One devotee, a Parsi woman, wrote: "Other saints forget their bodies and surroundings, and then return to them, but Sai Baba was constantly both in and outside the material world. Others seem to take pains and make efforts to read the contents of people's minds, or to tell them their past history, but with Sai Baba no effort was needed. He was always in the all-knowing state."
Many quaint, amusing and illuminating stories are told about him in the volumes on his life and teachings. But for our purposes there are just a few points we might note. One object of the fire he kept burning always at the mosque was to provide a ready supply of ash. This he called udhi, and used it for many kinds of miraculous purposes, particularly for curing ailments. The miracles he performed cover the full range of siddhis, or supernormal powers, as expressed in such spiritual and yogic classics as the Srimad Bhagavata and Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
Many times he proved to his devotees that he knew what they were thinking and saying and doing when hundreds of miles away from him. Frequently in crises he appeared wherever he was needed, either in his own form or apparently in some other body - a beggar, a hermit, a workman, a dog, a cat or something else. There was plentiful evidence that he could project himself through space and take any material form he chose. Those who were in the best position to know, his nearest disciples, had no doubts whatever on this point.
Baba gave visions to people, as for instance, the visiting high Brahmin who was dubious about going into the Moslem mosque. From outside the mosque the Brahmin saw Sai Baba as the God-form he worshipped, Sri Rama. So convincing was this vision of Rama that he rushed in and fell at Baba's feet. Other types of miracle include the giving of protection at a distance - protection against accident, plague, ill-fortune and imminent death; the granting of issue to those who were childless or desired to have a son; appearing to people in dreams with advice and help in their problems.
Like Jesus, Baba was able to cast out evil spirits from those obsessed and cure the most terrible diseases, such as blindness, palsy and leprosy. For instance he allowed Bagoji, a man with advanced leprosy, to come and shampoo his legs. People were afraid that Baba would himself be infected, but on the contrary Bagoji was completely cured of his leprosy, only scars and marks remaining.
By the end of last century, in spite of India's primitive communications at that time, Sai Baba's fame was snowballing rapidly. The high peak was reached by about 1910 when an endless stream of visitors began to flow in from Bombay and other places. Pomp and ceremony were thrust upon the rugged, unsophisticated old saint. Loaded down with jewellery, seated in a silver chariot with fine horses and elephants, he was taken in grand and colourful procession through the streets.
Baba, it is said, disliked all this show, but he submitted to it to please the people. Yet despite the royal treatment and the riches offered him, he continued to beg his food as of old; perhaps this was to show that humility is more than ever necessary when wealth and pomp and power are striving to seduce the soul of man.

| GODFATHER EINSTEIN AND BABA THE AVATAR |
| 03.23.05 (11:21 am) [edit] |
|
GODFATHER EINSTEIN AND BABA THE AVATAR Mark R. Abrams, Vermont, USA
Dear Reader, Sometime around the 15th of February, someone had forwarded to H2H a paper called Einstein Revisited by one Mr. Balwant Bhaneja. We were looking through the references of this paper and found that it contained a reference to an article in Sanathana Sarathi! We became curious and searched for this article and found it in the 1992 issue of Sanathana Sarathi. This was a two part article by Mark R Abrams, whose father was the personal physician of Einstein! We were wondering why Swami sent this article to us at this point of time and upon further enquiries found out that the birthday of this great scientist was on March 14th! Strange are the ways of the Lord! |
This is the first of the two part article, the second of which will appear in the next issue. We hope you enjoy reading it…..

"Together with knowledge of the natural sciences, one has to acquire humility, discipline and a good character.” — Sathya Sai Baba
If you want your life's work to be useful to mankind, it is not enough that you understand applied science as such. Concern for man himself must always constitute the chief objective of all technological effort, to assure that the results of our scientific thinking may be a blessing to mankind, and not a curse. — Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein was my Godfather and a family friend. Over the years I have sought to increase my understanding of this great man, and the spiritual implications of his work. Einstein was a scientific giant who, perceiving the unified nature of reality, was able to express some of it mathematically. Beyond the role of scientist, he can best be thought of as a spiritual giant whose life, in terms of humility, compassion for humanity, and one pointed focus on God, stands as an example of how Sathya Sai Baba teaches us to live most happily.
Albert Einstein stands as a precursor and example of the unique type of scientist so sorely needed in the world today, the type that Bhagavan is currently graduating from His Institute of Higher Learning. Under Swami's loving hand, these are "whole" scientists. Their aim is to benefit society and not merely accomplish selfish ends without thought to their work's impact upon humanity and the environment. These are scientists who combine spiritual awareness with state of the art training. Swami's graduates are at the leading edge of discovery in various fields. Three recent Ph.D.'s in physics had the unheard of experience of having their papers published in American physics journals within a year of receiving their degrees! Grounded in the truth that God is the source of all phenomena and knowledge, they maintain the perspective that the best path to understanding creation is to study the Creator.
Einstein also was this type of scientist, and his life was guided by this principle. His overriding goal was to "Understand how the 'Old One' thinks." And he devoted his life to the effort to gain "knowledge of the ultimate immu¬table essence that underlies the mutable, illusory world."
In the first part of this article I will mention some personal stories about my family, Baba and Einstein. The second part will include some of Einstein's thoughts on science, spirituality, education and character, as well as what Swami had to say about him during a recent interview.
Although Einstein was deeply saddened by the ironic fact that some of his work led to the development of nuclear weapons, we might also consider that the work also holds within it a scientific illustration of the spiritual truth. This article will conclude with some musings on how some of Einstein's work may be useful as one more 'tool' to help free us from Maya and accept the unseen Atma as the fundamental truth of life.
My father, Dr. Henry Abrams, opened his general medical practice in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1938. A year later, the physician who had been caring for Prof. Einstein, his daughter Margot and secretary Miss Helen Dukas, was leaving for further training. He approached my father and asked if he would care to take over, and he readily agreed. He cared for Einstein and the others until the out¬break of World War II.
GODFATHER EINSTEIN During the war my father was stationed on the cold and desolate island of Greenland. He and Einstein corres¬ponded. While in Greenland my father received a letter from Einstein remarking that this should be a "contemplative period" for him, and urging him to consider getting further medical training in some speciality. Subsequently, my father did that, and returned to Princeton as the town's sole ophthalmologist. When I was born in 1949, he asked the profes¬sor, as Einstein preferred to be called, if he would be my Godfather, and Einstein consented. Thus, following Jewish tradition, Einstein was the one who held me for the eris Milah, the ritual circumcision ceremony. He was to have a minor contact, but a major impact over my life in the years to come. Further, because in the West the Godfather is considered a child's spiritual teacher, I have come to consider Professor Einstein to be the first of several spiritual teachers in this life. They ultimately led me to Bhagavan.
Einstein died when I was six, and my recollections of him are few. I do remember that he had a very nice laugh, which he used often. For my fourth birthday, my parents and I were invited for a small celebration. My uncle took the opportunity to photograph the Professor and me dealing with the gifts that his secretary had obtained: a toy log cabin and a bag of foil covered chocolates in the form of "gold coins." It was this latter which occupied most of my attention. Professor Einstein worked on the log cabin, trying to fit the simple pieces of wood together. Interestingly, when I grew up and printed all the negatives, there was a picture of my mother leaning over Professor Einstein and the logs, showing him how the ends joined.
Of course at that young age I had no idea of what was so special about being around this nice old man. It wasn't until I was at college that I really began to appreciate the honour of being his Godson and to consider what his scientific work meant.
I discovered meditation at the age of twenty. As my spiritual journey proceeded I became intensely curious as to what my link was with such a luminous soul.
EINSTEIN AND THE GITA Baba found me at twenty three. As you can imagine, I regarded my first trip to the Avatar as a possible opportunity, among other things, to learn more about my relationship with Einstein. It may come as no surprise that throughout these and subsequent trips, Leelas have been the order of the day.
Baba, the consummate "tour guide", treated my wife Marsha and me to a host of travel experiences over the course of my first visit to India. We had no desire to be anywhere but where He was, and since He went to Delhi, Madras and Hyderabad we were overjoyed to be allowed to follow Him.
In Hyderabad a most interesting incident occurred during a discourse Swami was giving in a large auditorium. It was very hot and I had just eaten lunch. As time went on, I realized to my horror that I was being overtaken by a powerful drowsiness. As 1 was sinking into thamas, I projected a thought to the Lord: "Baba, the only thing that could keep me from falling asleep right now is if You were to mention Einstein...” I knew He could do it but didn't really expect it at all and continued my descent. Within sixty seconds, my head thrust backward as Swami's lilting pronunciation of the name "Einstein” entered my consciousness from His ongoing flow of Telugu.
I was awake then, and became riveted to the story He recounted of how a young Indian physicist during an appointment with Einstein eagerly probed for the ultimate in Western scientific wisdom. What he received from Einstein however, was, to roughly quote Swami, "Every major conclusion I’ve arrived at is contained in your Bhagavad Gita. Look there!"
My curiosity about the connection was inflamed anew! I was dying to get some insight into "why me?" As Swami's translator for the discourse was himself a nuclear physicist, I approached him afterwards hoping for some kernel of insight. He had nothing personally to share, and as far as learning more from Sai he said, "I counsel patience..." I was disappointed but left knowing I had received sound advice.
AT PRASHANTI NILAYAM Approximately one month later we found ourselves in the interview room at Prashanti Nilayam. I was sitting on the floor just to Swami's right as He was talking to various people in the group. Seeing His footstool off to the side and recalling how frequently He is seen using one, I took the opportunity to perform the logical but minor Seva of placing it in position. He accepted and I felt happy. After some time there was a lull in the give and take of conversation. No one was asking questions and Swami was silent, save for the quiet phrase "And you sir?" drawing the words out slowly. The thought came that He seemed to be addressing me. I was at a complete loss for words. I was embarrassed to be addressed personally in front of the group. I definitely had something I wanted to ask and whether I was being addressed or not, it was an absolutely clear, appropriate chance to approach Baba about it. Perhaps as many as two or even three solid minutes passed. An ego based lack of confidence prevented me from simply asking, "What is my connection to Einstein, Baba?" I feel Baba gave me many chances there, but finally a new dialogue began with someone else. The moment was lost and I clearly could not cut in. I was to wonder many times after that if the opportunity might not have been lost forever.
That was in 1978. More blessed interviews occurred in ensuing years and questions about more important matters were raised than about my Godfather. It was okay; I had become patient and accepted that He would reveal whatever I needed to know in its own best time.
After Professor Einstein's death in 1955, Miss Einstein and Miss Dukes remained patients of my father and friends of the family, remembering birthdays and attending my Bar Mitzvah at 13. My mother sometimes gave them rides around town as they did not drive.
For sometime I had had a yearning to visit Einstein's home to see his study. In 1983 my sister planned to get married in Princeton and this looked like a good opportunity. My father called Miss Einstein to arrange a visit and on a cold December day he, my stepmother and I spent about two hours chatting with this completely unassuming artist in the parlour of the house where she had lived for close to fifty years. She told us of her time spent studying art at a convent in Italy and showed us a beautiful little wax sculpture of Saint Francis, for whom she had a special affection.
EINSTEIN’S STUDY Somewhat paralleling that 1978 interview with Swami, I had been feeling some reserve during this conversation about requesting to see the Professor's study. This woman was elderly and appeared frail and I didn't want to trouble her by an extra trip upstairs. Clearly it was getting time to go. I had to act quickly or the chance would be lost. Thinking of Swami I made my request and she responded with an enthusiastic "Sure!!" and charged up the stairs to the room in question. On the way we passed her father's bedroom which was very plainly furnished, like a monastic cell. Then we were in the study. Bookshelves lined the walls, and a wide window faced a deep garden in the back of the house. To the left of this picture-window were two portraits, one of a bearded Jewish sage, the other of Mahatma Gandhi. One shelf contained all of the original issues of "Der Annalen der Physik" (Annual of Physics), the journal in which both Theories of Relativity were first published. Then, just as I noticed a large easy chair and footstool, Miss Einstein "commanded" me to sit in it. How could I refuse? I smiled broadly to myself, remembering Swami's footstool and feeling His subtle presence in what for me was a meaning¬ful coincidence. We took pictures, looked around a bit more and left. Later, I remembered Swami had said Einstein had a copy of the Bhagavad Gita and wished I'd looked for it.
As we left, my father recalled the time, years before, when he'd brought his brother in law Elliott Montroll over for what Einstein's formidable secretary had said would only be a three minute appointment. My uncle, who was to be later named to the Einstein Chair of Physics at the University of Rochester, would have been overjoyed just to have shaken hands, but Einstein offered them lunch. They declined. My uncle ended up spending half an hour at Einstein's dining room table, talking and laughing with him about physics, while my father beamed with joy, understanding not one word.
SERVICE TO HUMANITY My father, only on being asked recently, recounted to me how every three or four months for some years he would receive a call from Einstein's sec¬retary asking him if he might be able to spare a few minutes, as the Professor wished to talk. Somehow, especially in the early years of his practice, he always found time to go over, for discussions involving the non scientific topics his host was interested in, such as philosophy, and world and national events.
Always straightforward and humble in human dealings, Einstein came to accept and use the bewildering fame that was thrust upon him in the only way that made sense to him—service to humanity. He worked tirelessly throughout his life promoting peace, freedom, and respect for all people.
Dad recalled how Einstein's efforts during the 1930's and World War II enabled a certain number of Jews to escape Nazi persecution. The Professor also spent many years working for the United Jewish Appeal in establishing the state of Israel and accepted my father's invitation to co chair the local fundraising campaign with him in Princeton for several years.
My father considers himself a rational scientific and appropriately skeptical man, who, while loving his religion and believing in God, puts great stock in what can be touched, seen, and measured.
A SIVARATHRI VISIT My wife Marsha returned from her first trip to Swami in 1977. She had been present at the last public Mahasivarathri, during which our beloved Swami manifested Vibhuti, showered the audience with Ram Tirth (holy water) , and produced what Professor Kasturi was later to describe as a "self illumining crystal Lingam" (emphasis mine).
Soon after her return, Marsha and I were on a visit to my father and stepmother. When they asked her, "Tell us about your trip in India," she proceeded to do just that, with all the enthusiasm of one who had just returned from her first three months with the Avatar.
Producing photographs of Swami holding up the glowing Lingam, Marsha excitedly explained to this senior medical man how Sai Baba produced this unidentifiable object in His body, and then brought it forth from His mouth every year to the delight of His devotees. This was, to say the least, very difficult for my father to grasp or accept.
We did not know it at the time, but this conversation was a turning point in our relationship with our folks. Being so unfamiliar with anyone even remotely like Sai Baba they felt sure that we were being taken in by a master magician, and "feared for our sanity". As the years passed however, their fears abated when they perceived we had not given up personal control over our lives, and continued to develop as human beings.
"SUBTLE IS THE LORD" Three years after this visit we were back again, talking in that room where the fateful exchange had taken place. I was browsing in the kitchen cabinets when I spied a set of goblets I had never seen before—of clear heavy crystal. "Hey Nona!" I called to my stepmother with mild curiosity, "Where did you get the crystal goblets?" "Oh, those were a gift to your father from Dr. Sivalingam." "Oh." I replied.
So, the sceptical doctor who so profoundly doubted Lord Siva's ability to produce a Lingam of crystal, had himself received crystal from a doctor named Sivalingam! And unknowingly participated in an exquisite first hand experi¬ence of what Einstein might have meant when he proclaimed, in referring to how "nature conceals her sublimity": "SUBTLE IS THE LORD..."
At the time I could not even comment, finally bringing it to their attention two or three years later.
To be concluded (from January 1992, Sanathana Sarathi)

Devotee's experience
Experience of the Divinity of Bhagavan by Devotees
Mr. Prakash Dass (34), a teacher, relates his experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan in his own words.
'I hail from the village of Banadevpur of Jajpur district. I left my village in 1996 and settled in Jajpur Road. After my college studies, I have taken to private tuitions to eke out my livelihood.
I have been hearing about Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba since my childhood. But I began to take active part in Sri Sathya Sai Samiti activities about three years ago. Whenever I have a problem, I pray to Bhagavan in my mind and He will surely show me a way-out.
The convener of our Samiti was preparing a list of persons to go to Prasanthi Nilayam for seva in February 2005. He asked me also to join. I was willing but I could not say yes because I had to think of my tuitions. A break of 10, 15 days would affect the studies of my students. So I said, 'please excuse me this time'.
But I was persuaded by my friends to go over to Prasanthi Nilayam at least for one Darshan. So I agreed to accompany them, and to return after Darshan. That is how I came to Prasanthi Nilayam on January 27, 2005, but have continued to stay on.
On January 31, our Samiti leader told me, 'you have come to Prasanthi Nilayam any way. Why don't you join seva? It is a great opportunity to do service to Bhagavan'. 'I am a poor tuitor who cannot afford that', I replied, 'I am really unfortunate not to accept your offer'. So he drew a list of sevadal with others striking my name off the list.
That night I was returning to the place of my stay around 10 o' clock after seeing off my cousin who had come for seva. Suddenly I felt as if Baba was telling me directly, 'you can certainly do seva. You have that ability. Why did I bring you here? Only to teach you how to surrender to Me totally. You do my work and I will do yours. Don't worry about other things. I will take care of them'.
At once I changed my mind and decided to join seva. That night Bhagavan came into my dream and said, 'you have to do My seva and come close to Me, for My blessings'.
Next morning I went to our leader and said, 'I have changed my mind. I will follow your advice'. He was happy. He issued me an identity card and assigned duty at South-III. By the grace of Bhagavan, I could complete the term of my duty successfully and receive vibhuti prasadam and the Photograph of Bhagavan, which were distributed to us in the Divine presence today.
One day I went to the Super Specialties Hospital while I was off duty along with a patient. While waiting in the hall I had occasion to watch a video show on the T.V there. To my surprise they were showing a bhajan conducted in our place, that is, at Jajpur Road. I saw myself participating in that bhajan along with my friends and co-members of the Samiti of my village. Was it a coincidence that our bhajan was shown when I came there by chance and was watching the video show? Or, was it Swami's sankalpa?
I have no doubt that Swami brought me there on the pretext of accompanying a patient only to see that video by way of expressing His approval of my decision to stay on and do seva as per His instructions given to me both on the astral plane and in the dream.'
-- Mr. Prakash Dass.

Devotee's experience
Experience of the Divinity of Bhagavan by Devotees
Mr. K.Thillainayagam
Mr. Thillainayagam (60), a Civil & Sanitary Engineer, worked initially in the Tamil Nadu Water Supply & Drainage Board. Later he moved to the Corporations of the Government of India. From there he moved to Bahrain to work in the Government there for about 20 years. He just resigned service and moved over to Chennai. He plans to move over to Puttaparthi in the next few weeks to spend the rest of his life at the Feet of Bhagavan. He has several experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan of which he narrates an important one in his own words.
'Swami called the then Ashram Engineer Sri Jeyakumar a few months before the 65th Birthday Celebrations in the year 1990 and instructed him to begin the construction of a 65 feet tall statue signifying the 65th year of the Advent of the Avatar, for His Bhaktha 'Hanuman', at a place selected by Him on the hill top overlooking the Hill View Stadium.
I had been then working as an Honorary Engineer of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning at Prasanthi Nilayam for a short while. Sri Jayakumar formed a team of three, comprising him, Sri Subrahmanyam the Ashram Shilpi and me. Swami blessed all of us together expressing His approval for the joint effort.
Sri Subrahmanyam colleted a few pictures available in the market and also prepared a few hand sketches, and submitted all those for Swami's approval. Swami selected a particular picture depicting Hanuman lifting Sanjeevani Hill in his left hand, the bent left leg on small hillock and the straight right leg behind. None of us had any idea as to how to proceed. Sri Subrahmanyam, though involved in creating many statues earlier, also had no definite ideas about this tall statue.
Sri Subrahmanyam, however, made a small-scale model of the statue. I took measurement of the various components of this scale model, and made load calculation of the prototype statue. I found that the statue was going to weigh several hundreds of tonnes. We thought that it would be too difficult to support this massive statue, and hence we prayed to Swami to allow us to make the statue hollow.
Swami, while disapproving our proposal, said, 'this statue is going to last hundreds and hundreds of years. Therefore, no hollow work, no false work. Make it solid and strong.' Owing to the heaviness, I decided to support the statue using rolled structural steel sections. Swami, though He did not instruct me directly, used to flash the right solution at the right time, of course, only after we had strained our nerves. Unable to resolve many issues related to the structural stability of the statue, I used to go to the Prayer Hall, kneel before the Chair with my sketchbook, pencil and eraser and prayed to Swami to give me the correct solution. I used to get the correct idea as if some one was dictating. This happened on quite a few occasions during the period.
The statue had been designed on the following principle. The structural steel sections were to form part of the skeleton, and reinforced cement concrete (RCC) would make the flesh. Brickbats fixed on specially prepared cement mortar were to be used to create the shape and curves of the statue.
After having completed the preliminary calculations, the next step was the site clearance, levelling, grading and preparation of the base area for the statue. We engaged local labour to clear the site over the rock underneath. Once we removed the weathered rock, lo, we found a flat, level, solid rock bed, which did not require any further treatment to bear the massive statue! Remember, Swami Himself chose this site!
Next we wanted to procure the rolled structural steel sections from Bangalore. To fabricate the legs and other important parts, we needed ISMB 600 steel girders. This is the largest and heaviest rolled steel section manufactured in India. This section is normally used in railway bridges and in heavy steel construction. This section was not available in Bangalore city. We went round and round, but of no use.
We suddenly heard from one dealer that freshly rolled ISMB 600 girders in required quantity and length had just been received through railway wagons in the goods yard, and could be delivered to us the next day! We transported these and other smaller sections through long body trucks. Lord Sai made it possible for us to get the steel sections not commonly used by the general public and not easily available in the open market. Normally one has to place orders for these sections and wait for a very long time, whereas we got them just like that.
While gracing the Bhoomi Pooja for the statue, Swami created a three inches and a half (approximately) tall statue, and instructed us to construct the actual statue according to this model. This model was different from the one approved by Swami earlier, but it was a beautiful one. The statue now standing on the Hilltop was built on that model. Swami blessed a few stone blocks and bricks by touching them. Swami also placed them in position on cement mortar bed thus signalling the commencement of construction. The Divine Feet consecrated the whole area. Swami broke a few coconuts and sprinkled the water all over the place.
Swami directed me to go to the ECC Design Office to finalize the design, detailed engineering and drafting the construction drawing. They allocated a draughtsman to assist me in preparing the drawings. Within a couple of days, that draughtsman was withdrawn saying that his services were required for a very urgent tender work. As I could not wait for long, I requested the ECC Management to make alternate arrangement. They borrowed the services of a draughtsman from another division. Once again Lord Sai came to our rescue. The draughtsman suddenly withdrawn from this work is a RCC specialist where as the one who replaced him is a structural steel specialist. Thus Swami arranged the services of the right person for this job.
Swami used to visit the site very frequently. One day, during one of His site visits, He instructed me to place the statue on a pedestal and not directly on the rock, because the lower part of the statue might not be visible to the people at the ground level.
I prayed to Swami to indicate as to what should be the height of the pedestal. Swami said, 'My height'.
In order to counterbalance the overturning effect of the wind on the statue, we needed a very heavy base for the statue. We found, by calculation, that we needed a 45 feet long and 25 feet wide pedestal. But what should be the height of the pedestal? After calculations we found that the height of the pedestal required to counter the wind forces is the same as Swami wanted it to be!
The leg girders were actually anchored into this pedestal, which is simply resting on the sheet rock. Because of this base pedestal, there was no need to excavate deep into the rock or drill holes into the rock for anchoring the statue. Thus Swami saved us from the difficult task of anchoring the statue.
Swami evinced keen interest on this work. He used to bless us with His frequent Darshan at the site. He always came with carloads of snacks, sweets, and fruits to the site. Swami used to bring many visitors and show them the construction work.
The steel frame supporting the Sanjeevani hill had to be hoisted and placed in position. The frame was ready. Hoisting arrangement was made ready. I was requesting Swami to come to the site and bless us to commence the hoisting. Swami was somehow postponing the site- visit. But I was continuously praying for the Divine site-visit.
One day He came and broke a coconut on the steel frame and directed us to start lifting. Swami got into the car and drove off. The car would have gone only a hundred yards, and suddenly stopped. I ran and reached Swami's Presence. Swami asked me, 'when will you complete the hoisting work?' I replied, 'Swami, with your grace, we hope to complete the work around lunch time and I will inform you when I come for the afternoon Darshan'.
No sooner had Swami left the scene than the steel beam on top carrying the hoisting pulley was twisted (torsion failure), and the steel frame, which was lifted above the ground by a few feet, crash- landed on the ground. Because of this unexpected event, we had simply to abandon the hoisting work!
I went to the Mandir for the afternoon Darshan and sat desolate in the verandah. Swami's door opened, and Swami came straight to me with thumb- down signal even before I could open my mouth to explain the debacle. Swami said he had known everything. There was no damage to men or materials. Swami saved us all from a major site accident.
The next day Swami told me that I had chosen a very bad time for the hoisting operation because all the planets at that time were in unfavourable position. He directed us not to do anything for the next few days. Accordingly we waited for a few days and recommenced the work on instructions by Swami. No need to mention that we could successfully complete the work soon after.
The steel fabrication and erection work of the statue was a heavy construction work, something similar to major bridgework. The hard working and highly skilled site engineers and technicians of the ECC accomplished the construction work in time. Every one of us associated with the erection of the Hanuman statue could feel the Divine Presence every moment in its execution.
Jai Sai Ram'

Shiva Shakthi
Gurupournima Day, 6 July 1963, 6:30PM. (Sathya Sai Baba, Sathya Sai Speaks III 5, 19.)
[Editor's note. This discourse was exciting for two important reasons. First, Swami illustrated his powers by curing himself, in a few seconds and before thousands of people, of a severe stroke that he had had for eight days and explaining why this event had to take place. Second, for the first time, Swami mentioned Prema Sai, his next incarnation. Swami said that he would come back in a third incarnation as Prema Sai eight years after he leaves this body.]
------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- -----
This is not Swami's illness; this is an illness that Swami has taken on in order to save some one. Swami has no illnesses, nor will he get ill at any time. You must all be happy; that alone will make Swami happy. If you grieve, Swami will not be happy. Your joy is Swami's food.
(Then, Baba signaled to Kasturi to speak. After his short speech was over, Baba wanted the mike to be held before him. He asked through it "Vinapisthundaa!". But, though he asked again and again, the voice was so indistinct that no could make out what it meant.
He then signed for water. When it was brought, he sprinkled a little with his shaking right hand on the stricken left hand, on his left leg. He stroked his left hand with the right. Immediately, he used both hands to stroke his left leg, and that touch was enough to cure it. He doffed the disease in a trice! He started to speak! It was the same musical voice.)
For those who have no refuge, God is the refuge (Dikku lenivaniki devude gathi). That is exactly the reason I had to take on the disease that one helpless devotee was to get. He had to suffer this dire illness, as well as the four heart attacks that accompanied it, and he would not have survived it. So, according to my duty (dharma) to protect devotees (bakthasamrakshana), I had to rescue him. Of course, this is not the first time that I have taken on the illness of persons whom I wanted to save. Even in the previous Sariram at Shirdi, I had this responsibility. The suffering that you saw was too much for this particular devotee, so I had to save him by going through it myself. This is my play (leela), my nature. It is part of the task for which I have come, sishyarakshana.
People who were near me during the last week were asking me to give them the name of the person whom I had saved. I told them that it would make them angry against that person, for Swami, they would say, "had to undergo much pain in order to save that one person." Then, they replied that they would honor the person because of the extraordinary devotion that persuaded Swami to run to his rescue that Saturday morning.
Some people even asked me whether it was this person or that, giving names of those who had attacks of paralysis, especially on the left side! This is even more ludicrous, because when I save a person I save him completely. I do not wait until he gets the disease, and I do not leave him a fraction of a disease so that he may be identified later. It all looks funny to me, the guesses and surmises that you make.
Even in Shirdi, Dada Saheb, Nadaram, Balawanth, all were saved by these means. Balawanth was destined to get plague, but the bubo was taken over and the boy saved.
This is perhaps the longest period when I kept the devotees wondering and worried. That was because of the heart attacks, which had to come later on the devotee, from which also he had to be saved. Then, there is another reason why the 8-day period had to be observed. I shall tell you why. This means I must tell you about myself, about something I haven't disclosed so far, something that I was keeping within myself for the last 37 years. The time has come to announce it. This is a sacred day, and I shall tell you.
You know I declared on the very day when I decided to disclose my Identity, my mission, and my Advent that I belonged to the Apasthamba Suthra and the Bharadwaja lineage (gothra). This Bharadwaja was a great sage, who studied the Vedas for a full one hundred years; but, finding that the Vedas were endless (anantha), he did penance (thapas) for prolonging life, and from Indra he got two extensions of a century each. Even then, the Vedas could not be completed, so he asked Indra again for another hundred years. Indra showed him 3 huge mountain ranges and said, "What, you have learned in 3 centuries form only 3 handfuls from out of the 3 ranges that make up the Vedas. So give up the attempt to exhaust the Vedas. Perform a ritual (yaga) instead, which I shall teach you; that will give you the fruit of Vedic study, full and complete."
Bharadwaja decided to perform the ritual; Indra taught him how to do it; all preparations were completed. The sage wanted Shakthi to preside over and bless the ritual. So he went to Kailasa, but the time was not opportune for presenting his petition. Shiva and Shakthi were engaged in a competitive dance, trying to find out who could dance longer. Eight days passed thus, before Shakthi noticed Bharadwaja standing in the cold. She just cast a smile at him and danced along as before! The sage mistook the smile as a cynical refusal to notice him, so he turned his back on Kailasa and started to descend. To his dismay, he found his left leg, hand, and eye put out of action by a stroke. Shiva saw him fall, came up to him, and consoled him. Bharadwaja was told that Shakthi had indeed blessed him and his ritual. Then, Shiva revived him and cured him, sprinkling water from the Kamandalu. Both Shiva and Shakthi granted him the boons of a sage (rishi); they would both attend the ritual, they said.
After the ritual was over, they were so pleased that they conferred even more boons on the sage. Shiva said that they would take human form and be born in the Bharadwaja lineage, thrice: Shiva alone as Shirdi Sai Baba, Shiva and Shakthi together at Puttaparthy as Sathya Sai Baba, and Shakthi alone as Prema Sai, later. Then, Shiva remembered the illness that had suddenly come upon Bharadwaja at Kailasa on the eighth day of waiting in the cold on the ice. He gave another assurance. "As expiation for the neglect that Shakthi showed you at Kailasa for 8 days, this Shakthi will suffer the stroke for 8 days when we both take birth as Sathya Sai and, on the eighth day, I shall relieve her from all signs of the disease by sprinkling water, just as I did at Kailasa to cure your illness."
It was the working out of this assurance that you witnessed today, just now. This had to happen, this stroke and the cure. The assurance given in the Thretha era had to be honored. I may tell you now that the poor, forlorn devotee who had to suffer the stroke that I took over was a convenient excuse, which was utilized. You see, a railway engine is not made available to haul just one car; when a number of cars are ready, then the engine is put into action. So too, the disease had to be gone through, the devotee had to be saved, the assurance had to be carried out, the mystery had to be cleared, the Divinity had to be more clearly announced by the manifestation of this Grand Miracle. All these were accomplished by this one incident.
Let me tell you one more thing: Nothing can impede or halt the work of the Avathaara. When I was upstairs all these days, some people were foolishly saying, "It is all over with Sai Baba," and they turned back many who were coming to Puttaparthy! Some said I was in samadhi, as if I were a spiritual aspirant (sadhaka)! Some feared I was the victim of black magic, as if anything can affect me! The splendor of this Avathar will go on increasing, day by day. Formerly, when the Govardhanagiri (a mountain) was raised aloft by the little boy Krishna, the cowherd maids and boys (gopees and gopalas) realized that Krishna was the Lord. Now, not one Govardhanagiri but a whole range will be lifted, you will see! Have patience, have faith. Tomorrow morning, I shall give every one of you the Namaskaram Blessing that you missed today.

The book "Prabhupada" by Satsvarupa Dasa Goswami came to me a couple of years back, and after reading it, I decided to preserve it. It gave me more insight on how the Avatar was preparing the world for spiritual progress, even before His Announcement of His Arrival. I find this to be the same with varous yogis who visited the west in the past, since the Avatar had to prepare the entire world for His Arrival, instead of confining Spirituality to India.
Some interesting comments by some Gurus:
1. Testimony of the Modern Day Masters One of the greatest Saints of this century was a woman named Anandamoyi Ma. According to one of her closest Western devotees, over the years she had often been asked, "Who is this Sathya Sai Baba we keep hearing about?" But for many years she never gave an answer. In the last year of her life, however, the question came up again, and this time she gave the following response: "This body will speak on this question only once; don't ask again. Sathya Sai Baba is the most powerful incarnation of God ever to come to the Earth. And there won't be another at His level for another sixty centuries."
2. Shortly before he left his physical body behind, Paramahansa Yogananda was approached by one of his close American disciples, a woman. "Master," she said, "I know you are planning on leaving your body. You must take me with you! You are my God!" "Enough of that foolishness! God Himself is now incarnate on Earth, in South India. His name is Sai Baba. When I leave you are going to live with Him." (His prediction proved correct; after Yogananda's death, that devotee spent the rest of her life at Sai Baba's ashram.
3. Mata Amritanandamayi (also known as Ammachi), Herself considered to be an incarnation of the Divine Mother, was once asked, "Who is Sai Baba?" She replied, "Avatar. Perfect from birth."
4. Mother Krishnabai, the Self-Realized disciple of Swami Ramdas (the great Saint from Kerala), told her devotees, "Sai Baba is an avatar, a full incarnation of Krishna. He is Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva together in one form!" She recommended they spend as much time in His presence as possible.
5. Swami Satchidananda, the Enlightened sage who currently runs Anandashram in Kerala, was recently asked about the allegations against Sai Baba. He replied, "Forget about it. He is God!"
6. Karunamayi (also known as Vijayeshwari Devi, considered by many to be a living incarnation of the Goddess Sarasvati) recently told one of her close devotees, "Sai Baba and Amma [meaning herself] are both watching over you." Apparently she also knows who Baba is!
7. Yogi Ramsuratkumar made it clear on numerous occasions that Sai Baba is an incarnation of God. He often asked visitors from Baba's ashram, "You've left God to see this beggar?"
8. Shiva Balayogi, another of the great Gurus of the last century, was once asked about Sai Baba. He replied, "Sathya Sai Baba is an Avatar.
9. Master El Moya and Master Kuthumi, two of the great Ascended Masters behind the founding of the Theosophical Movement, also declared Sai Baba to be an Avatar. According to author Howard Murphet, in the book "The Light Will Set You Free" these Masters have stated, "Avatar Sai Baba is carrying the Divine consciousness in the world today.
10. Maitreya, the mysterious Master who has been miraculously appearing before people in various places around the globe throughout the last two decades, has said (through his spokesman, Benjamin Creme) that He (Maitreya) is the planetary Avatar, while Sai Baba is the Universal Avatar.

| SATHYA SAI BABA |
| 03.22.05 (1:26 pm) [edit] |
SATHYA SAI BABA
From a talk given by Hilda on March 18, 1982
Sathya Sai Baba was born on November 23, 1926, in the small South Indian village of Puttaparthi. On the day of his birth, musical instruments in the family home played melodies and rhythms on their own, untouched by any hands, and a large cobra, a sacred sign of divinity, was found under the baby's bed. These and other mysterious events surrounded Sai Baba's birth and led witnesses to suspect that this was no ordinary child.
As a young boy, little Sathya would lead his playmates in devotional songs before school and would fascinate them by materializing candy and gifts from an empty bag. Even as a child, he was constantly encouraging those with whom he came in contact to live righteous and God-centered lives according to the ideals expressed in the scriptures that are his country's ancient heritage. His boyhood years were filled with miraculous occurrences which reminded all who saw them that the material world was not ultimate, that it was dependent upon a higher spiritual reality.
At the age of thirteen, Sathya left his books and announced to his family that he was the reincarnation of a holy man named Sai Baba of Shirdi. "Yes," he said, "I am not your son." He told his parents that he no longer belonged to them, that his devotees were calling, and that it was time for him to go. "My work," he said, "is waiting." When he was twenty, he wrote to his older brother, "I have a task to foster all mankind to ensure for all lives full of bliss. I will not give up my mission or my determination. I know I will carry them out." Now that gives you a little idea who he was.
I'm going to read a tiny bit of a letter that I received from Baba when I first started these classes. I'm just going to read a line or two. It says: "Hilda, my blessings. I know all about the classes in jnana [knowledge] and pranayama [breathing] which you are holding in New York. Convey my blessings to all who are attending and to all devotees there. Sadhaks [spiritual aspirants] must also cultivate love and the spirit of selfless service. Success in jnana and pranayama is to be measured not only by the betterment of physical and mental health, but more by the depth of equanimity gained and the extent of sympathy that wells up from the heart. My blessings are with all those who are making such spiritual effort. I bless them that they may have steadfast faith. With blessings, Baba."
Years ago I went seeking those who could take the cork out of me and let me merge with the Ocean of Truth. I left San Francisco on a freighter to see the holy ones of India. As Nityananda, the great saint and my teacher, said, "The mind must come to a certain point of dedication, of mindlessness, before the Masters will appear." I went to India as a dancer and gave concerts throughout the country. I left here with a one-way ticket, with eighty dollars in cash, and with a million dollars worth of faith. I traveled all over India, and I've been going ever since on that eighty dollars. Right? And on the million dollars of faith.
In India I had gone to Shirdi Sai Baba's shrine, and wonderful things had happened there. Shirdi Sai Baba had said before he passed that he would incarnate again in South India eight years later. When Sathya Sai Baba was a boy, he said that he was that incarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba.
Well, I was about to leave India on my way home after all those many, many years, almost 20 years there, and I heard somebody say, "There's a Sathya Sai Baba who does miracles down in South India." So I went to the stationmaster in this little town and I took that old train. Back then I used to get down to the station very early and go third class and sleep in the luggage racks. I was thinner then. The luggage racks are very narrow. I wouldn't make it now, I'm telling you. I said to that stationmaster, "I want a ticket back in three days because I am going home to my America." And he said, "I can't give you a return ticket. You haven't seen the Master yet." The Master was Sai Baba - the stationmaster knew where I was going. I said, "You give me that ticket." I got a little on the tough side. But he shook his head and said, "You haven't asked for permission yet from the Master."
I didn't come home in three days. I stayed a long, long time over with Baba. He was very, very kind to me.
With Baba, miracles are innumerable. My first one was when I arrived. The ashram lights go out at 9:30 p.m., and my bus got there at 11:30 p.m. somebody said, "Come, I'll take your luggage. You sleep on the hospital veranda." So I went up there. In the morning, I had a companion in bed with me - a mangy dog. And they could be mangy there, too, I'm telling you, thin as rails. It was cuddled up with me so sweetly. And then, it was about four o'clock in the morning, still dark, and a vibration came swooshing from what I learned later was Baba's house. He must have been sending a wonderful vibe to the hospital, and I was in the way and I got it. I thought it was electricity going through me, and I said, "Wow! I've hit the jackpot here!" It was really good. And that was the start of my divine love affair with Sai Baba.
I got dressed, and I went down and stood outside. That was in 1965, you see. It's all different now. If you go over there now, you won't find this. You may find something better, but you won't find what I found. You understand? Because I'm one person and you're another. You may find something much superior to what I found. But my experience is what I would like to share with you.
That day the door opened and out came this person. He wore an orange silk robe and his hair was in a perfect Afro. When I heard he was coming to America, I thought, my God, what are people going to think about that hairdo? And about that time, that hairdo became very popular over here. It prepared the way for him to come! Unfortunately, he didn't come. I guess our hearts weren't calling him enough.
So anyway, he was looking at me and gesturing, and the people said, "Go in. Go in. He's called you." And I went in. He looked at me and he called me over to a corner. We were so close - our noses were a few inches apart. And I thought, "Gee, I didn't think I'd get this close to this Master." He said - his English wasn't as good then as it is now - he said, "What you want?" And I said, "God!" I tell you, from out of my inner self came this word, ppppssssshhh. I didn't have time to think that I'd like a ring or a necklace or a mala. This darn thing came out of me: "God!" He looked at me and he said, "You come back at four o'clock." He turned his hand in a nice circle and he went wwwoooossshhh and he said, "Put out your hand." I did, and he put in it some sweet raisin halvah. I looked at it, and he said, "Eat. That is heat." He said as he turned to everybody, "She has a yogic heat from doing so much yoga." I'm telling you I had yogic heat, all right. It used to burst out of my pores. I used to go home, open the fridge door, put my feet in the fridge and read a book. If that was yogic heat, I had it. So he said as he turned to the people. "She has yogic heat. This is sweet. You eat." And so I ate it, and I cooled off very nicely. I didn't have to use my fridge for my feet after that.
I went back at four o'clock and he started my training. He started a wonderful relationship that lasted until I came back here. It was a very wonderful thing.
Whenever he went somewhere, he would call me and say, "Hilda, what are your plans?" And, of course, I had none. I hadn't had any plans for twenty years. I'd just been roaming. I said, "No plans," and he said, "You come. Be ready at seven o'clock in the morning." So I'd be ready at seven. By ten o'clock we would leave. He'd say, "I know about ladies and getting ready. We tell them to get ready early."
I had the privilege that wherever he went, he took me into the home where he stayed. One day I was staying in a room that had little windows looking onto an altar on an indoor patio. And I was sitting there thinking, "Who is this guy? He's like a star in the sky." And he walked in. He didn't even look at me. He just looked at the wall and he said, "Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky." Then he walked out. Ah, he used to play these games with me. He would let me know that he knew what I was thinking all the time.
Other memories come back. Even now I can't boil water without burning the pot. But back then somebody came up to me and said, "Should we cook something for Baba?" I had visualized Baba's dining room as having an enormous dining table with shining bright silver and glassware, with all the VIPs sitting around it. And when the time finally came to go up with the food that we cooked, I poked my head in the door with about five Indian ladies, and I looked at this place where my Baba humbly ate. In this little, tiny room, he had a table that we wouldn't even cut vegetables on in a village and a little old wooden chair to go with it. He looked at me and he said, "What are you doing here?" And I said, "I cooked something, Baba." He said, "You cooked something?" He said to his sister, "What did she cook?" And she said, "Chapatti." He said, "I'll have some of it." You can imagine, can't you? I danced down those stairs. I leapt two feet all over the ashram, yelling, "He ate it, he ate it, he ate it, he ate it." Those were the early days that were crazy and fun.
A big thing in those days was black market pens. I heard him talking to someone else, and I heard him say, "Parker pen." I got on the next train to go into Bangalore, and I went all over looking for a black market pen. I finally found one, but I could find only a silver one. So I came back. At that time I was living in the house where he was, and I stood in the room in front of him with this thing in back of me, very innocent. He said, "What do you have in back of you?" And I said, "A pen." He said, "Let's see." I opened my hand and he said, "Silver. I've got a gold one." So I didn't care. I learned over there, "Praise and blame, all the same." You didn't pay any attention to anything Baba said. You just made a shield on yourself and you didn't react. So I took the pen and put it down in the next room, where I was sleeping. In about five minutes, he came in. He didn't look at me. He walked right past where we were all sitting, and he went into my room. He picked the pen up - he didn't look at me - and he walked out, hiding this thing in his hand. You know, he was flamboyant. That's the only word I can say for him.
Wherever he went, he took us on wonderful trips. In India everyone is so interested in your life that they would come up and say, "What is your name?" But I wanted to know about their lives, so I would say, "What is your name?" I'd put it back on them, you understand? And then they'd say, "Where are you from?" I'd say, "Where are you from?" In this way I got to hear miracle after miracle that nobody has read in books. You cannot imagine the miracles. Everybody had something wonderful to tell about what was happening to them.
I remember that he took me and about three others to this town where I met a young man who told me his story. The man said he had broken his leg on a motorcycle, and it had not mended correctly. His sisters were yakking at him to go to Baba's and get it fixed. The doctors were yakking at him to go and have it rebroken and set with a cast. One day when he was shining his shoes with that old-fashioned polish that we don't have here now, cake polish, he got so mad with the pain that he said, "I don't know what to do!" He threw the polish and it hit the ceiling, and from it came down streams and streams of holy ash. It went on until it flooded the floor. The neighbors came in to take the holy ash. Finally he got on his motorcycle and went up to Baba. Baba said, "Well, did you finish shining your shoes?" His leg had been healed, you see.
Once I went with Baba to a very wealthy home, and he said, "There's going to be a wedding." He gave me a sari to wear. I was going to wear it here tonight, and then I decided to wear a brighter one instead. So I went to the wedding, and I saw this lady of about sixty-five or seventy come out, and then her husband, who must have been twenty years older than she. They had to carry him out in a wheelchair. The bride and groom! Baba's going to marry these two? He's going to marry that old lady to that old man? I was going on and on, and finally they explained to me that it was one of those weddings when you marry again on the fiftieth golden anniversary. The word of what I thought got to Baba, and I thought he would just explode with laughter. I gave him a lot of good times in my craziness.
At Whitefield, we had fun, but when we would get to Prashanthi Nilayam, his ashram, he used to bring us down and we would get serious. He became like the Krishna, the King. But one day I was sitting on the floor where we had to sit at Bhajans, and when I got up, my leg was asleep, and I fell into the aisle. That's the only time I've ever seen Baba laugh there. I thought he would explode with laughter. But at other times, too, he was just a lot of fun and had a lot of wonderful wisdom. One day he picked up a little piece of paper from the floor. I saw him concentrate; put it in his mouth, and the little piece of scrap paper turned into sesame candy.
I'm telling you about my relationship to him. It would not be your relationship. Your relationship might be much better. I'm sure he wouldn't laugh at you. He just had a good time with me.
I have things here for you to see that Baba gave me. He was always calling me in and giving me wonderful things. One day he said he was going to give me a picture. So every time I'd go in for an interview, just for fun I'd say, "Where is my picture?" and he'd say, "I will give you a picture." And the next time I'd say, "Where is my picture?" and he'd say, "I will give you one hundred pictures." The next time I went in, he waved his hand - and there were the hundred pictures. I still have them. I haven't given them away, so don't you think you're going to get any!
One day he twirled his hand and said, "Look, Hilda, there's my picture, and there's my address, too!" - Almost as if he didn't know what was going to happen. But of course, he did. His way of controlling his mind is what I'm trying to teach you here. Do you understand? The power of self-control, the power of the mind, the power of concentration. Perhaps we're not going to be able to make pictures. At one time I thought I was because he said to me, "I'll give you three Siddhis." You know what Siddhis are - miracles. I thought, Wow! Three Siddhis! That's all I heard, because I had to have an interpreter at that time. Whatever he said to me, I'd get so wwwooohhh. I'd get wobbly, and he'd hit me on the head, and I'd say, "Oh, that's worse, Baba. That's worse." When I'd get out of his presence, I'd start thinking about what he'd said and I couldn't remember a darn thing - although I did remember something about the three Siddhis he was going to give me. I cornered the interpreter. I said, "What did he mean?" She said, "Three Siddhis." I said, "What were they?" and she said, "Well, I don't remember." As the days went by, I had made statues, I had made holy ash, I had made rings, I had made just about everything you can imagine in my imagination. I said, "Wow, I'm going back to America, and I can make all these things." I thought I had really hit it this time. Wow. So one day I finally cornered Baba. You know, even living in his house, you couldn't get at him all the time. He would see you out of the corner of his eye and sswwoosshh, like that, he would leave. But I cornered him and I said, "Baba, what were those three Siddhis that you're going to give me?" He said, "Prema Siddhi," which is love, "Shanthi Siddhi," which is peace, and "Anandam Siddhi," which is bliss. I looked at him and I said, "Those aren't Siddhis, Baba." I've never seen Baba so strict in my life. He pulled up another inch, which made him then five foot three, and he said, "If you want lesser things, go to a lesser teacher." I went away and thought about it, and I thought, "My God, he's giving me God. God is bliss." And that's how I can give you bliss, kids. I can hit you on the head, and you have bliss. Somebody said to me the other day, "You hit me on the forehead, and something happened, Hilda." You understand? Baba was giving me bliss, he was giving me peace, and he was giving me love. I went to him and I said, "Excuse me, Baba that was my fault." He said, "Not your fault. My fault. Swami's fault." How sweet and humble - such humility, such wonder he is, such love he shows for everybody.
Sometimes Baba would ask, "What do you want?" And people would say, "Liberation." Liberation from what? From A-B-C? From an uncontrolled tongue or what? It's a slow process. Some yogis go twenty years into the Himalayas, and only then do their teachers send them out. Twenty years goes past fast. We've only got seventeen years until 1999. You've got time to finish your yogi jobs. But you have to go at it, kids. Right?
One day he said, "How are you for money?" I said "Oh, oh...." When I got with him, I mean, I couldn't even talk. I said, "Oh, I've just got the abundance of the universe." He looked at me. He knew I didn't. He just clapped once, and out came a bunch of rupees. "Take them," he said. "Hide them under your sari. Jealousy out there. Jealousy." He meant that as I went out, not to go, "Ooooh, look what Baba gave form to." I'd have ten thousand jealous of me out there, all waiting to go in and see Baba. He said, "Take it to the American Express and get it changed into money of your country and never spend it." I never spent it. They changed it into twenty dollars and I always kept it.
I also use a ring that he made for me when I was leaving, just took out of the air. He said, "This is for healing, Hilda, for healing." And he said, "You will look in, and you will see sometimes Baba, sometimes you will see the infinite, and sometimes the finite." And it has been so.
I have time to read just a little bit of something that I like here of Baba's, because his miracles are one thing, but to me his message is another. His message is what I fell in love with - his message is what I rose in love with. Listen to this now.
"Why does man rail when he arrives in the world, whimper through life and groan out into the beyond, lamenting that his sojourn here was a waste of years? Why? Man does so because he is unaware of his glory, of his high destiny." That's the only reason. Week after week here, don't I tell you who you are? That's all I can do. All I can do each week is tell you who you are, until one day you say, "Wow, that's who I am!"
Baba says, "Man is the divine poured into a human mold." Take these words into yourself right now. Come on. You say "I." Say "I am the divine poured into a human mold."
Baba says, "Everything else, alive or inert, is also divine, but it is the privilege of man alone to be able to become aware of this precious truth."
We're the only ones that can understand it, do you understand? Isn't that wonderful? So why aren't we living better? This message is echoed by the scriptures and in the declarations of countless saints, yet man and woman turn a deaf ear to it, perhaps due to misfortunes created by misdeeds in past lives.
Baba says: "Man can derive Ananda" - that's bliss - "through the contemplation of his divinity or the divine as represented by all that he sees, hears, tastes, touches or smells outside himself. Brahman is immanent in all." Well, then, what are we worrying about? "The Divine pours into your mold. What an inexhaustible source of Ananda lies inside or outside you. Only you have to develop the mind" - that's it! - "Only you have to develop the mind that will respond to the call, that will recognize the truth."
Do you think that this week you could honestly keep your mind firm on who you are, day and night? Simply repeat it, saying who you are. If you have pains, say it is a lie. Say "I am in the image and likeness of God, and if God had pain, the whole world would screech. And I cannot have pain, because I am in that image and likeness." Say it over and over and over and over and over.
Once I took on so much pain from someone that I couldn't walk. It was so excruciating; there wasn't a place in me that wasn't excruciatingly painful. All at once I said, "Hey, God, I've had enough of this! I'm sick of this - this pain is finished!" And it got finished. What I get sick of is taking on pain from people who aren't going to change. I'll take anything on from you kids if you're going to change afterwards. I'll go along with anything. But if you get back your health and you don't change one iota - if your mouth is still nasty, your mind is still cheap, and you're still petty - then why don't you just have your own pain?
It's time you kept your mind on the truth of the matter. I would have so many people coming up next week to talk of miracles if you would keep your mind on God every moment. Say "I am made in His image and likeness." If you want to say "Her," you can. "I am made in the Mother's image and likeness. I cannot have sickness, I cannot have trouble. It's impossible, impossible, impossible. It's a lie, it's not true, it's not true." You go on all day like that, and something will break. Start doing it. I believe you could clean the water if you thought about it enough, if Baba can wave his hand and make something manifest. I swear by God Almighty that I've seen Baba do that over and over and over again. I've seen him blow like this - wwhhooohh - and the whole thing changes. It's almost as it was in the beginning, when God went like this - wwhhooohh - and our world and we were all created. It's a wonderful feeling to see someone do that. It opens your mind to a glory you haven't touched yet. Open your minds and your hearts and see the things we haven't seen yet! There are glories in the air we haven't touched, and I'm determined to touch them. If Baba can touch them, I can touch them. If Moses can part that sea, then I too can part my troubles if I keep my mind right. Do you understand this?
Baba continues: "Misery is alien to man's and woman's makeup. Recognize the immanence of the Divine. One has to dedicate all acts to the Divine." Everything we do is to the Divine. "What is an act when you analyze it deeply enough? It is the manipulation" - now listen to this - "the manipulation of the Divine by the Divine." Isn't that great? It is the manipulation of the Divine by the Divine. If you think positive and something happens, then who is the positive in your mind? God. And who is the thing that is manifested? God. If you pray, you take down from God's storehouse and give back to God.
Baba says: "Dedication is to be carried out in many various ways. Take the food that we consume and offer it to God." How many people forget to offer their food to God and change the vibratory rate of it from a stinking old nothing that's been cooked in a hurry into something divine? "Any act done for the glorification of God is thereby rendered pure and potent. It is incapable of harming the doer, the beneficiary or society, for it is saturated with love, which is God. God is the director of this puppet show, the manipulator of the strings. Go behind the scene and see Him. It is now hiding Him. You have only to peek behind a flower or peer behind a cloud to see Him pulling the strings to show us the beauty, to show us the darkness of heavy moisture. So also you have only to peek behind your thoughts, to peer behind your feelings. You will find there the Inner Motivator behind everything.
"You tell me, `Swami, I have been practicing intense meditation for fifty years, but I have yet to gain concentration.' This is the shameful confession. Jnana, or meditation, is the seventh of a series of the steps leading to the eighth, Samadhi, or conquest of the mind. Unless you have secured a strong foothold on the five previous steps, you will fall back from jnana."
You want to know what the five previous steps are? We've been doing them in this class, and I say you're a wonderful, wonderful class. I'm very proud of you. The first step is the control of the senses. The second is the control of the emotions and impulses. The third is the mastery of balance and equipoise. The fourth is the regulation of breathing and movements of the vital airs. The fifth is the prevention of outer influences. If you don't practice the first steps to make the foundation, you can go off and meditate and when you come out, you'll slide down and it will be hard to hold it, however many years you have tried to stick to it.
Baba says: "Reduce the luggage you carry about when on the journey of life. Remember, all that is not you are luggage. You are not the body, so the body is an item of luggage. The mind, the senses, the intelligence, the imagination, the desires, the plans, the prejudices, the discontent, the distress are all items of luggage. Jettison them soon to make your travel lighter."
Come back with me to Baba at Brindavan. I used to get up at 3:30 in the morning and go outside. I would look up and it would still be pitch-black, except for the stars so bright and the moon so bright. I'd walk down to this place, and I'd sit and meditate. I'd close my eyes at 3:30 and maybe at 8:30 I'd open them, and I would see the monkeys walking with their babies in their arms, picking the leaves and the figs and the fruit off the trees for their breakfast. I want you to close your eyes and feel with me, and then we'll go into a meditation. I call this "Baba at Brindavan."
Just feel it now. Get very quiet. Take in the essence of Baba now. You may see him in dreams after tonight. He may appear to you. He may just come for a second of Darshan. I tell you this night, I tell you in all sincerity, that everyone who is here, he knows is here. He once told me, "I know everybody in the world, and those that are mine I call unto myself." He knows you're sitting here tonight. Don't move your hands, your arms.
Just listen.

The story of Burgula Rama Krishna Rao The Governor's Plane Made a Safe Landing
Smt. Shyamala Devi Daughter of late Shri Burgula Ramakrishna Rao, former Governor Of U.P, and Kerala, India.
It happened during the day when my father , Late Shri Burgula Ramakrishna Rao was Governor of Utter Pardesh.
My father with his-de-camp by name Mr Sodi had gone to Puttaparthi to have Swami’s darshan. On that occasion Swami materized a golden ring and gave it to Mr.Sodi. Baba usually created articles like rings, watches etc, as talisman for the protections of His devotees.
Swami once explained the significance of his created articles. Whenever the recipients of such gifts from Swami are in danger, these articles instantly convert a message to Swami just like a message is convey through telephone.
One one occasions my father along with Mr Sodi had to travel on an official work in a plane meeting for Governor. While returning after completion of assignment, the plane’s front wheel got truck and did not open before landing. Pilots tried their best to unlock and bring down the wheels, but could not succeed.
They were forced make rounds over the airport, as they were unable to make a normal landing. Even the petrol was running out. When message was sent to the control room saying that they have decided to make an emergency landing on its belly, arrangements were hurriedly made.
Fire engines and first aid services were all geared up and kept ready. In a last and final attempt ADC . Mr Sodi entered the cockpit and tried to bring down the jammed wheels.
He had on his finger the ring created by Swami. Immediately the wheels freed and unfolded. The plane was carrying the Governor and made safe landing. My mother at first was frightened at the plane’s failure to make a normal landing.
On that particular day in the early hours Swami had appear in her dream and gave her flowers and bangles, symbolic of protection of her husband.
As a proof of this incident back of Puttaparthi, it seems Swami had remarked to close devotees “Alas! Ramakrishna Rao’s plane had mishap averted. “When my father spoke to Swami through phone. Swami remarked and explained the details of the entire incident to my father.

Burgula Rama Krishna Rao was the First Governer for Andhra Pradesh and a good devotee of Baba. He used to come to Parthi very regularly and Swami also vsited his house in Hyderabad. One day he was travelling in a first class compartment along with his wife. As it was a first class compartment there were not many people in the bogie. He had a single attendant to attend on his family. BRK Rao noticed a small spark in the fan and it was gradually becoming into fire with smoke. He tried to cal the attendant and there was no response. He came out of the coupe and started shouting for help. All of a sudden a person with couple of electric equipment came inside the coupe from nowhere. Suddenly seeing this person BRK Rao disturbed and for a moment thought that this person might be a thief. Brushing aside his feelings the new comer asked Rao why are you shouting for help. What do you want. The perplexed Rao showed the fire and smoke inside the coupe. This new comer went there inspected the fan and got that repaired in minutes and turned back at the couple and told them nothing to worry about. Saying this he opened the door of that moving train and vanished into thin air. Rao and his wife were totally surprised at the event and thanked him in his absence and went to bed.
After few days this first couple of the state went on to visit Baba and expressed their gratitude for taking care of their family in many ways. Swami pointed out the incident in the train and said why do you not talk about that incident. You did not think of me and when I cam to help you people without prayers you could not recognize me more over you thought that I might be a thief. He teased them for sum time for their ignorence and finally told them whether you pray or not God would come to your rescue, when you completely surrender yourself to Him. It is His duty. Hence develop faith in God. Then He blessed them and walked away.
This is another example which says how God takes care of His devotees in need without their asking. But to get that one has to surrender himself to Bhagawan.

Absorption into Godhood, Eternal Bliss, the Goal of Life
Discourse No. (58)
ABSORPTION INTO GODHOOD, ETERNAL BLISS, THE GOAL OF LIFE
All rivers fall into the ocean. All human souls must also eventually be absorbed into the Ocean of Eternity i.e., God. Each soul is a spark of the fire of God. It has emanated from God, it must return to God. This is the Law of Evolution, which I have created and which works in combination with the Law of KARMA.
There are limitless worlds and limitless solar systems in My universe. No human soul can have the least conception the infiniteness of My universe and the infinite forces that are working throughout the entire realm of My sovereignty. The grandeur and beauty of My Spiritual Plane are of an indescribable nature. Only Adepts with their inner eyes open, can behold the beauty and magnificence on My highest plane. The Masters who direct and control the management of your world under My orders are denizens of My highest plane. They are perfected human souls, who after countless incarnations, attain to the final goal of absorption into the Ocean of Eternity. The whole process is from darkness to light, from chaos to order, from sin and suffering to peace and bliss, from death to immortality. The highest reward of the human soul, thrown into the vortex of life on the physical plane of sin, sorrow and suffering, is eternal bliss i.e., absorption into Godhood. Man becomes a God in his highest nature. (16.1.1952)

Experience - T surya Rao - 5.2.05
Mr. T. Surya Rao 3rd Cross East, Gopuram Road, Puttaparthi - 515134
Mr. T. Surya Rao (76), an agriculturist from Sampara, East Godavari District, presently settled at Puttaparthi, relates a few of his experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan in his own wards.
'In 1954, I got married. In 1956, my in-laws took my wife and me on a tour of pilgrimage. We went to Tirupati and from there to Chennai. Then I had an idea. I wanted to go to Puttaparthi. I was not a devotee of Bhagavan but I used to hear a lot about Him in our area. I was a patient of severe asthma. I tried several medicines but in vain. I thought, 'why not I go to Puttaparthi and test my luck?' But my in-laws were reluctant. They, however, agreed for my going to Puttaparthi with my wife, and left for Kakinada.
I enquired about Puttaparthi. No one could tell me where it was. We were then put up in Mudaliar Choultry near Chennai Central Station. That day a person came there from Puttaparthi. He told me to go via Pakala. It was a shortcut, though I would have to change trains twice. 'You have come as godsend'. I thanked him. My wife and I left by train for Puttaparthi. We got down at Mudigubba, came to Bukkapatnam by bus and engaged a cart to take us to Puttaparthi. By evening we arrived at Puttaparthi. At that time there was no Gopuram. Only a gate was there. Swami saw us from the balcony. We were allowed to stay in the Mandir. Ladies used to sleep in the hall and gents slept in the verandah. We kept our baggage in the room. We all sat outside under the trees for Darshan.
Swami used to reside on the first floor. He came down, and walking along the lines, stood near me. He placed His hand on my back and caressed. 'Don't worry. Asthma will go. I will take care of you', He said. This was on the third day after our arrival at Puttaparthi.
After that, I returned to Sampara. Asthma has not showed itself up to me again since that day. I used to go to Puttaparthi at least once in a year. Swami also came to our village during His tour of Godavari districts. Mr. N. Kasturi wrote two or three pages on our village in his book, 'Satyam, Sivam, Sundaram'.
Bhagavan used to call us for interview whenever we went to Puttaparthi. He used to call us for interview only on the third day of our arrival there as He did when we had visited it for the first time in 1956. Once he materialized a ring and gave it to my wife. Another time He materialized a gold chain for my wife. He gave her a silk sari - a very expensive one, indeed. Once, He materialized diamond ear studs and gave them to my wife.
'Why don't you go to Whitefields?' Swami asked me one day.
'Yes, Swami', I said. My wife and I went to Whitefields, and stayed in a room near Brindavan for a couple of years. I was asked to supervise the construction of a building for devotees opposite the present Sai Ramesh Hall. On the day of inauguration, Bhagavan called my wife and got that complex inaugurated by her!
We bought a house-site at Puttaparthi in 1986 and built a house in 1987. Ever since we have settled down here owning to His grace.'

Experience - A K Nagesh
Mr. A.K. Nagesh Sai Ganga Apartments Bellattur, Kadugodi Po, Bangalore - 560 067 Mobile: 92471-25967
Mr. A.K. Nagesh (48), a taxi owner and driver, relates a few of his experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan in his own words.
'We belong to Yerrangodapalem in Cuddapah district. My mother, Mrs. Vidya was brought up in Puttaparthi. In her childhood, she used to play with Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba who was also a boy then.
I went to Bombay in 1967 and did all sorts of jobs and businesses there. I returned to Puttaparthi in 1989 when I lost my father. As I did not like to go back to Bombay, I worked for sometime in the Hospital at Puttaparthi.
In 1989, when I was in Darshan line, Swami came to me and dangled the keys of a car before my eyes.
'Take these', Swami told me handing over the keys to me, 'and drive the Fiat - ATA 1800.' I had the good fortune to be in the service of Bhagavan till 1993. One day Swami came to me when I was in Darshan line.
'Give me the car keys', He said.
I gave. Later, I joined Prince Carriers. One day I received a fax message from Ms. Monica Table from Germany, 'meet me at the Bangalore Airport'. My boss was furious. 'How is that customers contact you directly', he asked, 'I don't want in my service people like you who deal with customers directly'. I told him, 'I don't know who this lady is and why she wants me to meet her'. He did not believe. I had to leave his employment.
I went to the Bangalore Airport with a placard carrying 'Monica Table'. She could place me easily.
'Bring your car', she told me.
'I have no car', I told her, 'and I lost my job'. I explained to her how her fax message had got me the sack.
'OK!' She told me, 'stay with me in my employ'.
I joined her employment.
'Why did you send that fax to me?' I asked, 'I did not know you earlier'.
'Swami asked me to help you', she said. She did not tell me how Swami had told her, whether it was in a dream, in person, or some other way.
She gave me Rs. 50,000 to buy a car, and another Rupees one lakh for building a house.
I sat in Darshan line at Prasanthi Nilayam.
'I want to build a house at Puttaparthi', I told Swami.
'Build in Bangalore' Swami said and moved away. So I went and bought a site in Bellattur in Kadugodi. I had no money to build the house.
'Why not build multi-storeyed flats?' someone suggested, 'those who buy flats will advance money'.
So I launched the apartment plan. All my flats were sold out owing to Swami's grace. I got a couple of flats for me besides making a handsome profit. I could clear the loan I had raised for buying the car for use as taxi. Owing to the grace of Bhagavan, all my children are well settled.
One day Bhagavan told me in Darshan line, 'come to Puttaparthi'.
I rented a house here and shifted.
I always wonder how Bhagavan, out of His bountiful grace and love, lifted me up from scratch and made me what I am today, and gratefully do pranams to the Lord.'
